Clan MacKinnon Society
is founded in Glasgow, Scotland.
1960s
Membership declines and the Society becomes inactive.
1975
The UK Society closes
its doors.
1980s
The Society is revived in the United States.
2005
New constitution adopted. Mission expands worldwide.

The Clan
Clan MacKinnon is a historical Scottish clan deeply rooted in ancient traditions and the Gaelic culture. Family lines can be traced to some of the first leaders of Scotland centuries ago. We are part of the great Scottish diaspora that is today spread around the globe.
The Society
Clan MacKinnon Society is more modern and is made up of the people who trace their lineage to Scotland and to Clan MacKinnon or its Septs. We are proud to preserve our heritage and support education, philanthropy, genealogy, and community.
Our Mission
The purpose of Clan MacKinnon Society is to promote and celebrate MacKinnon and Scottish Gaelic culture, to preserve the history of Clan MacKinnon worldwide, and to provide a lasting impact on communities central to Clan MacKinnon’s identity.
The Clan MacKinnon Society is governed by elected volunteers and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
